Abstract
Paving blocks can be referred to as building materials have a composition that consists of sand mixtures and other missionary materials. . Nowadays the amount of waste continues to increase along with the increase in population and this needs to be overcome by utilizing waste to become a product that has more value. One of them is by utilizing rubber tire powder waste. In this study, the making of paving blocks with substitution material for rubber tires as fine aggregate substitution. The ratio of the ingredients for making paving blocks is 1 (cement): 4 (fine aggregate) and 1 (cement): 5 (fine aggregate). The purpose of this study is to determine the value of compressive strength and level of water absorption and optimum composition with substitution material for rubber tires as subtle aggregate substitution for cement variations: sand 1: 4 and 1: 5. Variations of rubber tire powder with variations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%. The compressive strength test is carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days, 28 days and for absorption testing at the age of 28 days. The biggest press test results are obtained by variation 1 without tire waste with cement ratio: 1: 4 sand of 19 MPa. The largest chair value. obtained by variation 5 without tire waste with cement ratio: 1: 5 sand of 17.17 MPa. The smallest value obtained variations of 8 with cement ratio: Sand 1: 5 without using tire waste which is 4.25 MPa. While the highest percentage of absorption was obtained in a mixture of variation 1 of 12.12.75%.
