Abstract

The development area results in a change in the function of open green areas to closed land which results in high waterlogging, especially during high rainfall. Waterlogging can be controlled by maximally absorbing water into the soil. One of them is porous paving blocks which have high porosity due to their higher ability to pass water but their strength is lower when compared to conventional paving blocks. The material for making porous paving blocks needs to be considered for quality that meets the requirements according to its use. By utilizing anadara granosa waste as a substitute for coarse aggregate and zeolite as a cement substitution material, which has a hollow structure that is expected to increase permeability. The ratio of materials for making paving blocks is 1 (cement) : 4 (gravel). The purpose of this study was to determine the compressive strength and water absorption of porous paving blocks and the optimum composition of the zeolite substitution material. The zeolite used in the mixture of materials for making porous paving blocks varies 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% using coarse aggregate from anadara granosa. The compressive strength test was carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days and 28 days and the water absorption test was carried out at the age of 28 days. From the research results, the compressive strength values were 31.40 MPa, 14.33 MPa, 17.83 MPa, 16,83 MPa and 15,00 MPa respectively. For the percentage of water absorption respectively 3,719%; 4,666%; 4,964%; 5,173% and 5,289%.
