Abstract

Electronic products besides having many benefits in human life also have potential dangers to safety. Potential hazards of electronic products include the danger of electric shock from the electric charge stored in the capacitor. To prevent this danger, capacitor discharge testing is carried out on electronic products. The capacitor discharge test is a test parameter required in the SNI 7859-2013   and SNI 04-6253-2003 . However, oscilloscope probe specifications have not been specifically determined in these two standards. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the oscilloscope input resistance value on the capacitor discharge test.   In this study,   capacitor discharge test was carried out using 3 oscilloscope probes that have different specifications. The test is carried out with   oscilloscope probe that has input resistance of 10 MΩ (10X attenuation), 100 MΩ (100X attenuation) and 100 MΩ (1000 X attenuation).. The measurement results show the oscilloscope probe input resistance value has a significant effect on the capacitor discharge test results. The measurement and calculation results show that the capacitor discharge test using probe with input resistance of 100 MΩ gives more accurate measurement results.
