Abstract

Solar power plants (PLTS) convert electromagnetic energy from sunlight into electrical energy. This renewable energy-based power plant is one of the recommended solutions for electricity in remote rural areas where sunlight is abundant and fuel is hard to come by and relatively expensive. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued Ministerial Regulation (Permen) Number 49 of 2018 on the use of Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) systems by consumers of the State Electricity Company (PLN). The hope is that with this rule the business and solar panel industry can grow. The government first implemented a dispersed PLTS system for rural electricity in 1987, and expertise on photovoltaic systems is still in its early stages. This is due to the lack of availability of experts, skilled technicians, and engineering companies competent to design, build, and maintain systems. Meanwhile, a better supply chain of PLTS system parts is needed to ensure the sustainability of this system in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. For that we strongly support programs for new and renewable energy for remote areas that are difficult to get electricity supply. In an effort to support the use of new renewable energy we conduct community service with the theme "Education and Implementation of Renewable Energy in the Community in Kaduberuem Serang Village".
