Penguatan Ekonomi Masyarakat Melalui Penggunaan Mesin Cacah Sampah Plastik Di Lingkungan RW 04 Jakarta Barat

Abstract

In 2018, RW 04 which is in the administrative area of ​​Palmerah District, West Jakarta, has been designated as one of the slum RWs based on DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation number 90. This determination is based on aspects of physical environmental arrangement, social and cultural empowerment, as well as community economic empowerment . The waste problem is one of the indicators in the aspect of physical environmental management because 22% of domestic household waste in residential areas is transported to the TPA (Water Treatment Plant) less than 2 times a week. Improper waste management can have a negative impact on health, the environment, as well as on the socio-economic and cultural life of the community. Waste production at TPA per day averages 0.28 m³/day or around 0.1 tons/day, plastic waste reaches an average of 22.6%, which can be recycled around 17%. So plastic waste that can be recycled is 3.1 tons/day, this is a very potential business opportunity. The community must be given incentives in sorting organic and inorganic waste because if it does not provide added value to the community it will be difficult to invite the community to participate in managing waste, training, introduction and increasing the ability to manage plastic waste chopping machines so that people are interested in sorting the waste.
