Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of adding crumb rubber and bentonite powder filler to the asphalt concrete mixture for the AC–WC layer on marshall characteristics referring to the 2018 Highways division 6 specifications. The addition of crumb rubber variations used was 0%, 3%, 5%, 7 % and 9% and variations of bentonite powder by 4% and 6%. Based on the tests carried out, the optimum content of crumb rubber was obtained at 5% variation and 6% bentonite powder with a stability value of 1907.97 kg, density of 2.278 gr/cc, melting of 3.45 mm, VIM 3.928%, VFB 76.513%, VMA 16.725% , MQ 553.68 kg/mm. This shows that using bentonite powder as a filler substitution and the addition of crumb rubber to the mixture can increase the stability of asphalt concrete.
