Abstract

In recent decades scientists have conducted a lot of research and provided several alternatives to reduce damage to structures caused by earthquakes. One of the alternatives proposed is the application of a structural control system that can increase the seismic capacity of the structural system in the form of a damper on structural elements. The earthquake energi entering the structural system is dissipated by the installed control system. These control systems are better known as seismic devices. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the use of a damper (oval shape slit steel damper) at the joint of column beams. This research is in the form of numerical analysis by modeling the damper to obtain damper characteristics when applied to beam-column joints. The results of numerical analysis show a good dissipation ability of energi on the damper when used at the joint of column beams.
